Pastor's Update 5/1

Updated: May 4, 2020

DRIVE-IN 2: The sequel. We are doing it again THIS SUNDAY!

Yes, like any good movie, my sermon will have a sequel. This is better than Star Wars! The service will be at 10:00am, in the east parking lot, just as we did this past Sunday. You will not enter through the Cherokee Avenue entrances, but there will be ample people to direct you to your space. I will be preaching from the black awning over the Cherokee entrance. What if it rains you ask? Use your windshield wipers! As for me, I will merely move to a cozy spot under the awning. Looking forward to a great time assembled as the body of Christ.

I also realize there are some that just don't feel comfortable getting out. And if you are vulnerable, do not open your windows. There is no pressure on you to do so. Masks are not requred, but we do encourage appropriate social distancing. Although we will not personnaly enforce city or state rules... that is your responsibility.

We will be live-streaming the service on the webpage and on our facebook page.

"You may not be able to predict the time of a tornado, earthquake or the Lord's return. But you can know for a fact that He is coming back. Work today to share the escape route of God's grace with others, before the night cometh." - David Jeremiah

Upcoming Schedule

Based on Governor’s plan and and in light of City Council action:

Phase 1

  • May 1 - places of worship are technically open (Also State parks and outdoor recreation should be reopened) Here is the catch--All 65 years and older, and vulnerable citizens are under the safer at home standard. From Governor's office that means: “Vulnerable citizens are those who are over 65 years of age or individuals with serious underlying health conditions, including high blood pressure, chronic lung disease, diabetes, obesity, asthma, and those whose immune system is compromised such as by chemotherapy for cancer and other conditions requiring such therapy.”

  • May 10th through the end of the month, the early service will be online, and the second service will be live at 10am. Through end of the month there is no Sunday School, or other on campus activities. There will be no children's activities until announced.

Early Worship Service:
8:30am on Sundays, Wade will lead the early service to be broadcast on the Facebook page, and our website. If you are 65 and older, and still under the Safer-At-Home rule, you will still have this access.
Second Worship Service
At 10am the Second morning service will be live in the worship center. Loren Rosebrook will lead the Praise Band and we will encourage family worship as there will be no childcare or children's activities.

Phase 2

  • May 15 - Funerals and weddings can resume under social distancing protocols. We will look at other activities and make the decision once we see the reality.

Phase 3

  • June 7 - Combined celebration service all together. At that point if all goes well, all restrictions will be lifted, and we will enjoy our first time back together in a unified service. Sunday School schedule will be announced. FLRC schedule, will be published. Falls Creek having been abbreviated, and several weeks closed, we are looking at alternatives.

Thanks for your faithfulness with your tithes and offerings! Our giving is going pretty well. We do encourage you, if you have not already, to use Pushpay (click here) for your ongoing giving. In the event we are unable to meet in the future, this will be a great avenue for sustained, secure and easy giving.
