The BFBC leadership continues to monitor and follow state and CDC safety guidelines concerning the Coronavirus. While we have resumed most of our regular schedule, many safety modifications have been adopted for the foreseeable future. A livestream link to the worship service is also available at 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. from our website, Facebook page and the BFBC app.
(9:00 am) New Beginner's Ukulele Class: A community outreach class offered for one hour each Monday featuring instruction in the basics of the instrument to include posture, technique, strumming, rhythm, chords, (notation and tab) in preparation for the next class level. Instruments and supplies are the responsibility of each student. Standard and Baritone Ukuleles welcome.
(10:15 am) Intermediate Ukulele Class: A continuation of the New Beginner's Ukulele class to include further instruction beyond basic skills such as chord transitions and fingerstyle picking to prepare for the Joyful Strings Ministry. This class also lasts for one hour each Monday. (except Holidays)
(11:30 am) Bring Your Own Lunch: All are welcome to join us around the table for prayer and fellowship.
(12:15 pm) Alternating Instrument Workshops: A one hour workshop each Monday (upon request) for those who want or need extra help in improving skill on their instrument to include: mountain dulcimer, hammered dulcimer, mandolin, guitar, violin or banjo.
(1:30 - 3:30 pm) Joyful Strings Ministry: A community outreach ministry with the mission of sharing the love of Jesus Christ through music with the community and each other to include churches, schools, nursing homes, retirement centers, and community events. Musicians are required to share a statement of their faith in order to participate in class or community events which typically occur once per month.
(5:30 pm) Gospel Play & Sing: An extension of the community outreach of Joyful Strings which offers an open song session for folk and gospel tunes. This gives individuals who work full time an opportunity to participate in group playing and praising the Lord with their stringed instrument of choice. This event occurs once per month on the 2nd Monday in the Activities Building of BFBC at 413 Delaware. Send us an email if you want to receive information and reminders about this event.
All classes are located at the South Chapel of BFBC. Music is available on the Joyful Strings website in .pdf format for participants only. Summer break give youth an opportunity to join us and even learn a new instrument. Contact us if you anre interested.
