Our Ongoing Story

Since our founding in 1891, Bartlesville’s First Baptist Church has been focused on the life changing Gospel of Jesus Christ.  We have grown together through fires and floods, flu epidemics, tent revivals and personal tragedy; keeping pace with the events that have shaped the city, the nation and the world around it. Our unified strength in Christ has held strong during times of war, corporate downsizing and relocation, as well as social change. Thousands have worshipped and served God as one body together as First Baptist Church.

For almost one hundred and twenty five years, the First Baptist Church has lived the Great Commission.  As a result, countless numbers of people have come to know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Standing on the shoulders of those who have gone before us, we will continue to devote ourselves to the Apostles teachings and the fellowship.

As we learn God's Word, love God's people, and live God's mission,  this vision will continue to thrive until He comes. In the meantime, we are committed to vibrant worship, relevant Bible teaching, genuine community and the urgent spreading of this Gospel.

Our desire is to live the Gospel in the most impassioned way, and take the Gospel to the most needy places. We are resolved: We will not be silent.

The cornerstone of our Chapel was laid in 1926.  It rightly says, "We believe in Christ crucified, risen, and coming again."
